Kalpeshwar Temple, Uttarakhand – A Year-Round Panch Kedar Pilgrimage

Kalpeshwar Temple is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the serene Urgam Valley of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. At an altitude of around 2,200 meters, this temple holds a unique place among the Panch Kedar temples. Religious Significance

Kalpeshwar is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Jata (matted hair). According to the legends of Mahabharata, after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas wanted to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva for the destruction caused during the battle. Lord Shiva, avoiding them, disguised himself as a bull and disappeared into the ground at Kedarnath. His body parts reappeared at five different locations in the Garhwal Himalayas, forming the Panch Kedar temples.
