Day 1: New Delhi |
|
Arrive in New Delhi late evening, and drive to
Mussoorie (about seven hours) a lovely hill station, which
gives you your first views of the snow covered peaks. Upon
arrival, check in at guesthouse, rest and have a late
breakfast or early lunch. The day is yours to unwind and
acclimate to your new surroundings. Yoga class will be held in
the afternoon before dinner. |

Day 2: Mussoorie (1,921m/6,320ft) |
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast Optional walking tour to Cloud's End or
Everest House. Return to Mussoorie by motor transport after
lunch. Overnight in guesthouse |

Day 3: Uttarkashi (1,158m/3,809ft)
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast Drive (approx. 7hrs)
north from Mussoorie on a beautiful ridge road through Devdar
groves at Dhanaulti, and then along the banks of the Bhagirathi
River to the holy town of Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi is a famous
destination for pilgrims going to Gangotri and an important
center for yogis and sadhus. Check into guesthouse |

Day 4: Uttarkashi

Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast Group will walk to the Vishwanath temple
in Uttarkashi (5km) and return to Guesthouse after darshan
(view).

Day 5: Belak (2,570m/8,455ft)
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast A 30 minute drive to
Lata takes us to where we start the trek, descending 200m to
cross a bridge over the Bhagirathi River. The 16km (8 hrs)
trek is all up hill, long and strenuous Overnight stay in

Day 6: Kush Kalyan (3,180m/10,462ft)
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast Trek 14km (6 hrs) up and
down hill through forests and Bugyals (meadows) to camp at
Kush Kalyan. The views are superb and truly breathtaking!

Day 7: Meadow camp (3,267m/10,750ft)
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast This short (5km/4 hrs),
but steep trek takes us to the higher meadows of Kyarki. We
climb up to an altitude of 11,460ft and then descend to our

Day 8: Kyarki (3,780m/12,436ft) |
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast This 5km (4 hrs) steep trek takes us
through higher meadows where we shall encounter herds of
sheep and goats grazing. These herds are looked after by
trained sheep dogs (a local breed called gaddi). The
shepherds and their always interesting herding dogs are
sure to be visiting, making the campsite all the more
enjoyable. The surrounding peaks (weather and clouds
permitting) from this campsite make one want to laze

Day 9: Mamla Tal (4,050m/13,325ft) |
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast Today we trek 16km
(8hrs) with an initial steep ascent and then traverse for a
while. We will make our final push up to the ridge
(4,300m/14,147ft) which offers amazing panoramic views of Mt.
Kalanag (6,837m/20,955ft), Mt. Jaonli (6,632m/21,753ft) and
Mt. Bandarpoonch (6,316m/20,722ft) among others, before
descending and then traversing to our campsite. Mamla Tal is a
beautiful little lake situated at the base of a hill, and will

Day 10: Darshan Tal (5,000m/16,450ft) back to Mamla Tal
|
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast We will take our time trekking (5 hrs) up
to Darshan Tal (6km) and back, allowing for side trips to view
the smaller lakes along the way. Before our final approach to
this majestic and revered lake, we will remove our shoes and
take a tender walk over rocks to have darshan of the lake. The
pinnacle of the trek will now be achieved. For most this
evokes a true sense of serenity and you are sure to float back
down to camp on the wonderful vibrations from this experience.

Day 11: Kyarki
|

Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast The trek back to Kyarki
is 17 km and can be done in about 6 hours. It is mostly
downhill as you will remember, except for climbing
(250m/823ft) up the ridge. Overnight stay in tents |

Day 12:
Kush
Kalyan |
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast We will trek back 10km (3.5 hrs) to the
beautiful meadows of Kush Kalyan. The blanketed meadows will
be a welcome respite to the rocky terrain of the previous
days. Don't be surprised if you have a sudden urge to go

Day 13: Belak
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast This is our second last
day of trekking (14km/4-5 hrs) and we get to experience the
terrain in a totally different way. With the main challenges
behind us, there is time to reflect upon our experiences. The
overwhelming transformation that has occurred is clearly
reflected in the different state of mind. Overnight stay in

Day 14: Uttarkashi
|

Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast From Belak we retrace our steps
(16km/4-5 hrs) from the first day of the trek back to the road
at Lata. We drive back to Uttarkashi and of course a nice hot
bath. Spend the evening lounging on the terrace and enjoying

Day 15: Uttarkashi

6:30 before breakfast Today will be a rest day to be used
however you like. A trip to the NIM (Nehru Institute of
Mountaineering) Museum and campus can be arranged for those

Day 16: Mussoorie
|
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast Pack up and depart by
10:00
for the drive back to Mussoorie. Check in at guesthouse |

Day 17: Mussoorie
|
|
Morning yoga at
6:30 before breakfast Spend the day relaxing and getting
things together for your return. This evening we will spend
celebrating the end of our journey. Overnight in guesthouse |

Day 18: New Delhi
|
|
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast We will say our
goodbyes and depart for Delhi. Most flights leave
between midnight and 2:00AM, so you can rest for a while
at the Radisson Hotel and wash up before going to the
airport or spend the night, depending upon your travel
plans. |
